#THUSSAYETHTHELORD

about

This track comes from a deep, personal space that is inspired by the churches my family attended when I was a child. I can still see the pastor’s face turning red with fury as he preached hellfire and damnation. The mock sermon “Sour Grapes” by Puscifer inspired the vocal direction for this track, but instead of a fake sermon I used a real sermon, using the same words and ideas as those very evangelical pastors I grew up being verbally and intellectually assaulted by. While #THUSSAYETHTHELORD is a protest song, nothing has been exaggerated or taken out of context; nor am I outright blasting these people - this stance of misogyny and anti-intellectualism is exactly what is being preached across the pulpits and airwaves and the sheople eat it up. I present the sermon to you for you to draw your own indignation that our children are being indoctrinated like this. The track takes a darker tone at the end when you hear my girlfriend’s five year old, of a different faith, child chanting their mantra - just like the Christians would like to have happen.
